Recommendations for Students

MEchatronics Engineering Students’

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

AND VARIOUS RECOMMENDATIONS

· Always carry your student ID with you.

· The Department Chair’s office is located in Room 309, Building A, at the Yıldız Campus.

· You can contact our Department Secretary’s Office to discuss any issues or problems you may have. However, our students often attempt to resolve serious issues over the phone or via email. In such cases, students may be at a disadvantage because they are unable to convey their problems accurately. For this reason, we recommend that students visit the Department Chair’s Office in person to discuss such issues with department officials.

· When corresponding with the Department Chair’s Office, please prepare your petitions carefully, using clear and concise language. Include any required, requested, or potentially necessary supporting documents. Do not forget to provide your contact information completely and accurately in your petitions.

· For the academic calendar, student regulations, and other relevant policies, please visit the YTÜ Office of Student Affairs website (http://www.ogi.yildiz.edu.tr/). You can also obtain information from (http://online.fliphtml5.com/ehpt/wdhn/#p=1).

· Make a note of the important dates in the academic calendar that apply to you. Be sure to follow the procedures to avoid any issues.

· In the department’s course schedule, your internships are scheduled for the 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters to ensure ECTS compliance. To complete your program on time and receive your diploma at the end of the 8th semester, you must complete your internships in advance. Therefore, to graduate at the end of the 8th semester, be sure to complete your internships on time.

· When selecting courses, be sure to follow the course registration dates. During this process, first select the courses from your own program and any prerequisite courses you are taking.

· Carefully review your academic plans. Remember that some of your courses have prerequisites. Keep in mind that if you fail these courses, you will not be able to take certain courses in subsequent semesters. The prerequisite chart based on the semester course schedule is available on the department’s main page.

· Check the university website and the department website regularly.

· Remember that there is a 70% attendance requirement for theoretical courses and an 80% attendance requirement for practical courses. Attendance is taken regularly in our department courses. Do not forget to sign the attendance sheet.

· Please arrive on time for classes to ensure the concentration of your instructor and classmates. Otherwise, please wait until the next class session. Remember that attendance is the most critical aspect of your academic life.

· During exams, be sure to have your student ID, a pencil with erasers, a spare pencil, a ballpoint pen for signing, a calculator (not a cell phone), and any other materials required for the exam with you.

· Be sure to sign the attendance sheet during the exam.

· Listen carefully to the instructions given by the exam proctors and assist them in maintaining order during the exam.

· The use of cell phones is strictly prohibited during exams.

· Please read the Higher Education Institutions Student Discipline Regulations and other relevant legislation.

· Our faculty members’ offices and Department Laboratories are located in Building E2 on the Yıldız Campus.

· You may use our laboratories by contacting the responsible research assistants. Our department offers a prototype manufacturing workshop, an electrical and electronics laboratory, a mechatronics laboratory, a hydraulics and pneumatics laboratory, a PLC laboratory, and a microprocessor laboratory.

· You may freely use our student computer lab in Building E2 between 09:00 and 16:45. The computers in these labs are preloaded with the software you have encountered in your courses and may need to use.

· Our faculty members are conducting numerous scientific research projects. You can support these projects by contacting our faculty members. You can visit Research Laboratory 1 (Block E2, Basement) and Research Laboratory 2 (Block E2, 2nd Floor) in Block E2 to examine the ongoing projects firsthand.
